Overview

The QOLV App provides access to QOLV content and includes local productivity features such as notes, saved quotes, bookmarks, drawing tools, offline content, and full-text search.

QOLV is designed to keep user-created content primarily on the user’s device. The app does not require a QOLV account and does not use advertising trackers or analytics SDKs to monitor users.

Some parts of the app display content from qolv.com and other websites through an embedded browser. Information submitted directly to those websites is governed by their respective privacy practices.

1. Information Stored on Your Device

The QOLV App may store information locally on your device in order to provide its features.

This may include:

• Notes and documents created by the user
• Saved quotes
• Bookmarks and reading history
• Locally cached QOLV articles and content
• Drawing files and drawing metadata
• Imported Excalidraw libraries
• User preferences and app settings
• Offline search indexes
• Other information needed to restore the app’s state and provide offline functionality

This information is stored locally using technologies such as SQLite database storage, application storage, and embedded browser storage.

QOLV does not automatically upload this locally stored content to QOLV servers.

The app’s offline search feature also creates a separate local full-text search index. This index is generated from content already stored on the device and is used only to provide offline search.

Clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling the app may remove locally stored content. Files that the user has separately exported or saved elsewhere are not controlled by QOLV after export.

2. Drawings and Excalidraw

The app includes a customized, self-hosted version of the open-source Excalidraw drawing tool.

Drawings are stored locally on the device and can be used offline after the required app resources have been loaded.

Users can:

• Create and manage multiple drawings
• Import .excalidraw files
• Export .excalidraw files
• Export drawings as PNG or SVG
• Import and use Excalidraw library files
• Share or save exported files using the device’s system share interface

QOLV does not automatically upload user drawings to Excalidraw or to QOLV cloud storage.

When a user intentionally browses the external Excalidraw Libraries website, normal internet information such as the user’s IP address and browser/device information may be visible to that external website in the same way as when visiting it in a normal browser.

3. File Import, Export, and Sharing

Some QOLV features allow users to select, import, export, save, or share files.

File access occurs only when initiated by the user.

For example, a user may choose to:

• Import an Excalidraw drawing
• Download an Excalidraw library
• Export a drawing
• Save a PNG or SVG
• Share a file using the phone’s system share sheet

When the system share interface is used, the file is provided only to the application or service selected by the user.

QOLV does not automatically send exported files to third parties.

Third-party applications chosen by the user, such as cloud storage, email, or messaging applications, are governed by their own privacy policies.

4. Website Content and Internet Access

Some content in the app is provided by: qolv.com

The app may download QOLV content for viewing and offline use.

When the app communicates with qolv.com, standard web server information may be transmitted as part of normal internet communication, including information such as:

• IP address
• Request time
• Requested page or resource
• Basic browser or device information required to deliver web content

The app itself does not use this information to create advertising profiles or track users across other applications.

Any information voluntarily submitted through qolv.com is governed by QOLV’s website privacy practices.

5. Optional Email Subscription

Users may optionally provide their email address through qolv.com to receive updates about newly added subjects, notebook releases, or related QOLV resources.

• Subscription is entirely optional.
• Email addresses are processed through qolv.com rather than the app’s local note or drawing systems.
• Subscribers may unsubscribe using the link included in applicable emails.

The QOLV App does not require an email address to use its local productivity features.

6. Camera Permission

Camera access is optional and is used for the QR Scanner feature.

The camera is accessed only when the user intentionally activates QR scanning.

The camera may be used to scan QR codes associated with QOLV physical materials or other supported content.

QOLV does not use the camera for background recording or monitoring.

Images captured for QR scanning are not intentionally retained or uploaded by QOLV as part of the scanning process.

Users who do not grant camera permission can continue using the rest of the app.

7. Local Search

QOLV includes an offline full-text search feature.

The search system creates a local search index from supported content already stored on the device, such as notes and downloaded articles.

Search processing occurs locally on the device.

Search terms are not automatically sent to QOLV servers or external search providers.

The local search index is used only to make local content faster and easier to find.

8. Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking

The QOLV App does not intentionally include advertising SDKs, behavioral advertising systems, or third-party analytics services for monitoring user activity.

QOLV does not sell users’ personal information.

QOLV does not create advertising profiles from locally stored notes, drawings, searches, quotes, or reading activity.

External websites opened from within the app may have their own analytics, cookies, logging, or privacy practices.

9. Third-Party and Open-Source Software

The QOLV App uses open-source software and software libraries to provide features such as:

• Embedded web content
• Local SQLite storage
• Full-text search
• File selection
• File sharing
• Drawing and diagram functionality

These components are used to provide app functionality.

Some features may also open external websites or services selected by the user. Those external services operate under their own privacy policies and terms.

10. Data Security

QOLV is designed so that user-created notes, drawings, saved quotes, search indexes, and similar app data remain primarily on the user’s device unless the user intentionally exports or shares them.

Because local data resides on the device, users are responsible for protecting access to their device and for maintaining backups of information they consider important.

Exported files may be stored in locations selected by the user, including third-party applications or cloud services. Once a user intentionally transfers a file to another service, that service’s privacy and security practices apply.

Information transmitted between the app and QOLV websites is protected using HTTPS where supported.

11. Data Retention and Deletion

Locally stored app information generally remains on the device until it is:

• Deleted by the user
• Cleared through app or operating-system storage settings
• Removed when the app is uninstalled
• Replaced or removed through normal app functionality

Some exported files may remain in locations outside the app until the user deletes them from those locations.

Information voluntarily submitted through qolv.com, such as an email subscription, is handled according to the applicable website practices and is not deleted simply by uninstalling the QOLV App.

12. Children’s Privacy

The QOLV App is not designed to intentionally collect personal information from children.

Because most productivity content is stored locally and no account is required for the local features, QOLV does not intentionally receive users’ locally created notes, drawings, searches, or saved content.
